Chiropractic seeks to optimize the body’s expression of health by detecting and correcting dysfunction in the nervous system. The nervous system has been called the master system of the body because it controls all other organ systems. Hippocrates, the father of medicine, once said, “Look well to the spine for the cause of disease.” In other words, all diseases can be traced back to the nervous system– the brain, the spinal cord, and the nerves throughout the the body. Therefore, the Chiropractic approach, by focusing on the health of the nervous system, seeks to find the cause of the disease rather than the mere masking of symptoms.
Chiropractic is a great complement to other forms of health care, particularly other holistic approaches. It is recommended that patients use chiropractic care as a starting point for beginning their health journey, because a healthy nervous system will improve and enhance the effectiveness of other treatment modalities.
